THE CORE RULE
Active subscription = permission to use Archive assets in new projects covered by your plan. A project created and published while your subscription is active remains licensed after the subscription ends.
The Archive is designed to make licensing straightforward: subscribe, use the work within your plan, and keep the projects you publish while your subscription is active.
All plans include the same Archive. The difference is the scope of permitted use—not the files you can access.
Compare pricingActive subscription = permission to use Archive assets in new projects covered by your plan. A project created and published while your subscription is active remains licensed after the subscription ends.
You may keep, display, distribute and maintain projects that were created and published while your license was active. You may not use previously downloaded Archive files to create a new project, new campaign, new edit or new deliverable after your subscription ends.
For one individual creating personal, non-commercial work. It does not cover client work, business marketing, paid advertising, organizational communications, resale products or work created on behalf of another party.
For independent professionals and creators producing commercial work, including client projects. It covers incorporation of Archive assets into finished client deliverables and paid advertising while the subscription is active. It does not transfer Archive membership or raw-file rights to a client.
Covers one legal organization and its internal teams, regardless of employee count. The organization may use Archive assets across its own communications, marketing, recruitment, advertising, websites, social media, publications, presentations, video productions and signage while the subscription is active.
A professional subscriber may incorporate Archive assets into finished work produced for a client. An organization may allow contractors working on its behalf to handle files solely for covered organizational projects. Contractors and clients do not receive independent rights to retain or reuse the raw files.
Professional and Organization licenses permit covered Archive assets in paid advertising, sponsored social, digital campaigns, print advertising and other promotional placements. Personal licenses do not.
You may crop, resize, color-grade, composite, add typography, edit motion, add audio and otherwise adapt an Archive asset as part of a covered finished project. Modification does not create ownership of the underlying Archive asset.
Patrick Wine Images retains copyright and ownership of Archive photography and motion. A subscription grants a license to use the work; it does not sell or transfer copyright.
Archive source files may not be resold, sublicensed, uploaded to another stock or asset library, shared as a standalone download, distributed as a template asset, or provided to another party for unrelated future use.
Archive assets may be used incidentally within a covered design or project, but may not be sold primarily as the product itself—for example, selling an unaltered Archive photograph as a print, poster, wallpaper download or other competing image product—unless separately licensed in writing.
A covered project does not lose its license because your subscription later expires. Existing websites, published videos, advertisements, printed materials and other completed releases may remain in use. Creating a materially new project or new deliverable requires an active subscription.
There are no download credits or ordinary per-download limits. Downloading a file does not permanently license that file for every future use; the right to begin a new use depends on having an active subscription at that time.
Personal and Professional subscriptions belong to the subscribing individual. An Organization / Institution subscription belongs to one legal entity. Separate organizations or unrelated legal entities require their own applicable license.
Purchasing a physical print or Signature Edition does not grant reproduction, commercial-use or Archive licensing rights to the underlying photograph. Print ownership and image copyright are separate.
Websites, social posts, films, client deliverables, presentations, editorial layouts, recruitment materials, paid campaigns and organizational communications—when covered by your active plan.
Redistribute raw files, resell Archive assets as standalone imagery, sublicense the library, share an account across unrelated organizations, or begin new uses after your subscription has ended.
Ask before publishing. We would rather clarify a use than make licensing complicated.
